The administrative staff at Allen Creek serves to support the children and families, the work of the teachers and family consultants, and the smooth functioning of the school.
Meghan Wernimont | Executive Director
Meghan has taught in a variety of preschool settings, including many years at Allen Creek, a special education inclusion classroom in Colorado, and a wonderful cooperative nursery school in Chicago. She holds a bachelor's degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, a Master of Science degree in Speech/Language Pathology from Purdue University, and is a licensed Speech/Language Pathologist. Meghan is deeply committed to the mission and vision of Allen Creek, which is to support the healthy growth of children and families in our community. Much of her spare time is happily spent with her family, reading, or playing sports.
Gale Whittier-Ferguson | Education Coordinator
Gale was one of the founding teachers of Allen Creek and has worked with children in a variety of settings for 30 years. She holds an MA in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City. Gale and her husband have two grown children who continually delight and amaze them. Their family also includes 2 rambunctious dogs and a black and white cat. Gale likes to challenge herself physically through cycling, running and weight training; she loves to sing, listen to music, speak Spanish, quilt, read, and be outside.
Karen Baker | Child Development Director, Family Consultant Coordinator
In 1979, Karen Baker graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BS in Elementary Education. After teaching children with learning disabilities, she received an MSW from the University of Michigan in 1983. In 2000 she completed her adult psychoanalytic training with the Michigan Psychoanalytic Council (MPC) now known as the Michigan Council for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (MCPP). She is an analyst and on the faculty at the MCPP as well as the Institute for Clinical Social Work, Chicago (ICSW). She is the Past- President of the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work (AAPCSW). Karen maintains a private practice in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults. In her leisure time, Karen enjoys gardening, cooking, dancing, being outdoors, hanging out with family and friends and laughing!
Frances Lee | Office Administrator
Frances graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Psychology. She pursued her degree while raising her two sons. Her two oldest grandchildren also attend Purdue. She has spent her career of over 30 years managing offices; from multiple sales offices to start-ups, corporate and non-profits. She managed marketing and communications for a global company and was the corporate event planner for 20 years. These upscale events were held all over the U.S. with attendees such as U.S. Congressmen, Senators, State Governors and presidents of universities and corporations. She loves traveling to visit her grandchildren and has visited all 50 states, Europe, Scandinavia, the British Isles and the Caribbean. An avid bicyclist, for each of the last two years, she biked over 1200 miles, most of which were spent on the Border-to-Border trail. She also loves to swim. She taught her two grandchildren to swim in just one day. She also loves to play classical piano, crochet, read and work in her flower garden.
